Opportunity

MicroEnergy Credits (MEC) offers a rare opportunity to work in a lean, fast growing, early stage company in the social enterprise space.  The Africa Sales Manager will report to the Africa Regional Director.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Management

  • Design countrywide staffing model ensuring appropriate personnel is assigned to each region and branch
  • Recruit, reassign, and dismiss sales staff as necessary
  • Provide appropriate and continued coaching, training, and support
  • Design and implement commissions and incentive structure to maximize performance

Financial Partner Engagement

  • Ensure positive relationships with Financial Partner staff and management at the individual branch level
  • Monitor loan process at branch level to ensure that Clean Energy loan product is being utilized appropriately
  • Provide appropriate and continued coaching, training, and support to Financial Partner staff

 

Sales and Distribution

  • Ensure highly productive stockists are recruited and active as distribution points for each Financial Partner banking branch
  • Acquire and distribute demo products and marketing materials for strategically identified marketing points in the field
  • Maintain familiarity with MEC stockists, Financial Partner agents, and other distribution points
  • Design and implement marketing strategy which includes effective distribution of radio, print, and video campaigns as well as execution of large scale community marketing events

Supplier relations

  • Collaborate with MEC Supplier partners to create countrywide strategy
  • Secure, design, and implement product specific promotions
  • Ensure proper training is provided as necessary on current specifications of full MEC Clean Energy Product Catalog
Qualifications
  • Experience managing a sales staff of 20+ employees
  • Remote sales management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Direct sales and marketing experience
  • Sales projections and analysis
  • Media relations; interfacing and negotiating with radio, TV, and other media outlets
  • Basic knowledge of lending practices and principles of microfinance
  • Basic knowledge of the energy sector as it applies to household level renewable energy products
  • Direct experience in microfinance and/or renewable energy preferred
